Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

An Eco Friendly Look at Our Endangered Fish Species

Love eating fish? So do I.  But perhaps we need to rethink which fish species we order next time we dine out.  Some eco-friendly chefs are making informed decisions to guide their menu choices.  Amazingly, not based on the almighty dollar.

I thought this ScienCentral video provided an insightful look at whether we’re overfishing select fish species, causing them to become endangered,  and what we can do about it.

  1. Good topic.

Here’s a list of fish to avoid:

    Chilean seabass
    Atlantic cod
    King crab (imported)
    Atlantic sole and flounder
    Atlantic halibut
    orange roughy
    Atlantic farmed salmon
    red snapper
    imported swordfish
    bluefin tuna

I’ll post about the best choices and good alternatives later.

  2. I would like to know how to help endanger species?, and if there is any thing I could do pls try write back sorry if I don’t answer immediately. Calista
