Just got back from a weekend getaway to nearby Auburn, Indiana to visit their world-class Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum.
These classic cars are from the 20’s and 30’s and were favorites of movie stars and royalty — about the only ones who could afford them during the depression era.
Duesenbergs are truly works of art and the museum is in the fully-restored, original, art deco building that was the original Duesenberg factory showroom.
If you like trivia, the phrase “It’s a Duesy” (I always thought it was spelled “doozy”) is actually the tagline for the Duesenberg car. Now you know where it came from.
Well, we were only half way through the museum and we were getting hungry so we took a break and went into Auburn to find a place to eat. On a Sunday afternoon, we were not expecting to find much open but we stumbled upon a great local micro-brewery and restaurant called “Mad Anthony” in the heart of town.
Why anyone goes to chain restaurants is beyond me. The fun is in the discovery and discover we did! We had a sampler board of their micro brewed beer while we waited for our orders.
My husband and I always split meals – it cuts down on portion size, we get more variety to eat, and saves money. I ordered a Grilled Asparagus salad and he ordered a grilled fish sandwich and we shared.
The Grilled Asparagus salad was outstanding and would be easy to recreate at home.
Grilled Asparagus Salad
- grilled asparagus
- grilled portabello mushroom
- chopped tomatoes
- feta cheese
- walnut halves
We had this with a raspberry dressing. It’s a Duesy!
